Jiah Khan commits suicide

25-year-old actor, Jiah Khan, the girl who debuted opposite Amitabh Bachchan in Nishabh is no more. News is that at around 11 PM, she committed 'suicide by hanging' at her Juhu apartment.

Jiah also starred in movies such as Ghajini and Housefull, and was a successful model.

Jiah was brought up in England and had shifted to Mumbai with her mother Rabiya . A source close o her mentioned that she had been depressed for some time due to personal issues, but was keen on returning to acting soon. She was also meeting filmmakers regarding projects.

The latest news is that Aditya Pancholi is currently in her house, perhaps looking after the proceedings. Jiah was good friends with the Pancholi family and was also rumored to be dating Aditya Pancholi’s son Suraj Pancholi.

Jiah's last tweet was on 23 May. She wrote: "‏@jiahkhan 23 May: So sorry I have been off twitter! Took a bit of a break from twitter verse.. sometimes u need a sabbatical to recollect ur thoughts"

May her soul RIP...

Ram Gopal Varma, who gave Britain-born actress Nafisa alias Jiah Khan a Bollywood launchpad with 2007 film "Nishabd", is "shocked and chocked" over the news of her death. He says she was depressed about her career, and scared about her future as she had no work the past three years.
"The last time I met her, Jiah told me that everyone around her makes her feel like a failure," Varma posted on his Twitter page, after hearing the news that the 25-year-old had committed suicide at her Juhu home here around midnight.
"Inspite of being highly appreciated in 'Nishabd' and being a part of hugely successful 'Ghajini' and 'Housefull', she had no work for the last three years. I don't know the reason what led to this, but Jiah was very depressed about her career and scared for her future," he added.
Varma said that he had "never ever seen a debutant actress with more spunk and more spirit than Jiah when I was directing her in 'Nishabd'".
"Nishabd" required Jiah to face the camera with a thespian like Amitabh Bachchan in an unusual love story between a 18-year-old and 60-year-old. And she did it with confidence.
The movie was controversial and not very well-received at the box office, but it made the industry sit up and take notice of the then 19-year-old girl Jiah, who left a lasting impression with her act of a free-spirited soul.
"So young and so pretty," recalls Varma, adding: "Just can't believe that someone as young and so full of life is just dead. No matter what her problem was, I just so wish she applied her on screen philosophy of 'Nishabd' to her own life which is to 'Take Lite'."

  1. OMG, how do you commit suicide? It takes so much courage to end life. I wanted to die all my life that's because I had valid reasons, health issues, depression, etc. But, I would think Jiah had a better life at least had a great job, loving family, and she was beautiful..but you NEVER KNOW. SO shocking!!!!!!!!!!!!I hope she finds peace.

It is out of the blue and shocking. The last I remember seeing her in photos was having a good time with family/friends and that smile and I remember thinking it is good she has people around her to have a good time with. It is true that one can never tell how one is feeling on the inside. Outer smile can be just someone fighting hard. She was simply gorgeous and breathtaking and did a beautiful job in that movie with Amitji. That is my memory of her. Rest in Peace Jiah. I am so sorry to hear this.

  5. this aditya pancholi guy being involved seems very suspicious....he has been charged with rape of a minor..he was accused of beating up and domestic violence while dating kangana...he seems like a domineering and physical and mental abuser.... I am not being disrespectful to the deceased here BUT I just want the person who has abetted her suicide to go to jail as abetting a suicide is a criminal offence in India...who knows it could even be murder...RIP Jiah

Such a tragedy . Jiah looked so pretty in Nishabd . Acting is a very difficult profession to crack , there are very few from non movie back grounds to make it big. If not acting, why not try something else ? If not this man , some other man ! Why such a drastic step , at such a young age where life is ahead of u.
