In short, LHDD is Love Aaj Kal, Jab photographer Met Rockstar, and set out on a Highway, landing in a Cocktail of sorts. Watch it only if you’ve exhausted all other movie options this week.

Armaan is endearing and energetic, getting you to warm up to him. Deeksha is confident and likeable. Bangalore boy Mahesh (Akhil) excels. And if you're looking to cuddle up this monsoon just like the slightly mismatched young couple in the movie, attempt doing it the LHDD way.

LEKAR HUM DEEWANA DIL depends completely on its lead actors. Also, Arif combines the sparkle and adrenaline rush of impulsive liaisons with serious take on relationships, giving ample scope to the first-timers to make an impact. Armaan has the charm that should help him establish a substantial fan-following, but more importantly, he is definitive and confident for someone who's facing the camera for the first time. Deeksha, who has featured in a couple of South Indian films prior to this film, has a pleasant screen presence and also handles her part confidently. In fact, she underplays the dramatic portions delightfully. On the whole, LEKAR HUM DEEWANA DIL has several wonderful moments and genuine sparks that stay with you. The film should appeal to its target audience -- the youth.

Deeksha Seth shows some spark, but it requires a better film than this to judge her. Both she and Armaan are undone by some poor writing and direction, and that is indeed unfortunate. While all's well that end's well for their characters, we would be hard pressed to say the same for the film itself.

Most of the interest in the film centres on Armaan Jain, Raj Kapoor’s grandson, although he isn’t the only first-timer on test in Lekar Hum Deewana Dil. The film is also Deeksha Seth’s first foray into Bollywood. The young leads are unable to whip up the kind of intensity that a contemporary urban love story of this nature needs in order to click.Physical enthusiasm, of which there is no dearth in the performances of Armaan and Deeksha, can only serve as thin disguise for the lack of true emotional force. At various points in Lekar Hum Deewana Dil, the word ‘blunder’ is uttered. Quite apt! And in the run-up to the climax, which predictably unfolds at a big fat wedding ceremony, the harried heroine says that she cannot handle the pain anymore. Neither can the audience. Well before the film draws to a close, you begin to wish it was shorter. Lekar Hum Deewana Dil is much ado about nothing and painfully pointless.

Since its protagonists are largely loathsome in their self-serving attitude, this is not an easy film to like. But ultimately, it is a satisfying blithe and breezy slice-of-life experience with dialogues and scenes that ring true most of the time. The film marks the confident debut of its lead pair and director. Their time starts now.
