The most awaited chat show - Koffee with Karan is back after a long haul. The show kick-started with Bollywood's most loved hero, Salman Khan. It was Salman's first time on the show and after watching the episode we wonder why he ran away from being on it all these years! We're glad Salman wasn't accompanied by anyone else because the magnanimous star he is, even a one hour long episode seemed too less for him!
Salman was his rockstar self on the show and left with some real witty comments that kept us asking for more. We love the fact that he was entirely himself on the show. Who else would sleep on Karan's couch without giving a second thought?! Yes, Salman did exactly that and had us in splits! Even though he claims to be a virgin and says that he loves "sleeping alone", we really have our doubts! Salman spoke openly about whatever he was asked about without a sense of discomfort apart from of course the times Karan Johar made those sexual connotations leaving Sallu speechless.
When Shah Rukh's topic came up, Salman admitted to not being in great terms with him but he also said that he has a lot of respect for him and hates it when anyone bitches about SRK to him. While he thinks he himself is below average when it comes to acting, he loves the way Akshay Kumar has grown as an actor. When asked which actress he thinks is stunning, he readily said Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. We love the fact that he was brutally honest about everything!
There were also a few stark revelations the actor made! For instance the times he kept suggesting the relationship Katrina Kaif and Ranbir Kapoor share. Going by the rumours of them being together at one point of time, seeing him be so comfortable about the idea of Ran-Kat was really surprising!
All in all, this was a great start to the show and we could not have imagined a better person to start the show with! Love him or hate him, you cannot ignore him - that's Salman Khan for you!
Pretty surprised that he called Ash as the most stunning which she is.
ReplyDeleteHe is not comfortable with english.Thats for sure.
ReplyDeleteBefore I start, does anyone else love Sallu's deep voice, so manly! This was an amazing episode all because of Salman, his personality just lit everything up. His clarification on his relationship with SRK was awesome, new found respect for Salman. How he doesn't want to be in the way of his exes moving on, so sweet and mature of him. When asked who is more stunning, loved how he immediately shouted "Aishwarya Rai Bachan!" --->we know this is Salman's REAL answer, but then diplomatically said Katrina---> let's not kid ourselves here lol, Katrina is all body, her face is just average. When he answered "housewife" for Kareena, he had no enthusiasm and like he could care less, kind of like a "whatever" attitude; I disagree with Salman here though, Kareena wouldn't be a housewife, she'd be a gossiping aunty...oh wait she already is one. His tone changed for Priyanka, it became more energetic and positive, and specified she'd be a "lovely wife." Salman had nothing but praise for Deepika in this interview, mentioning her twice, even answering "Deepika" when she was not one of the choices (choices were Aliah, Parineeti, Sonakshi). Now to Salim Khan, just wow, what a respectable man. He is on a league of his own, because there are so many detestable parents out there who blindly defend their children even when the children commit despicable/questionable deeds --->Salim Khan is NOT one of them. Even though Salman is his son and Salim loves him dearly, Salim said he does not defend him for his wrong doings. When Salman is wrong, Salim says it outright, BRAVO to you sir! And finally that thief story was just adorable and hilarious, Salman and Salim make a great father son duo.
ReplyDeleteTo begin with, I think Karan's Intro song was very irritating. My excitement level had almost decreased, like literally!! :P But as soon as Karan introduced Salman & he entered in, all my excitements came back. This was undoubtedly the best KWK episode ever. It took four seasons for Koffee with Karan to get its best opening guest & the best episode ever. Salman is a virgin. Hmmm!! Azharuddin, Abhishek Bachchan & Ranbir Kapor must be very happy men now :P Loved the way he talked about SRK. He always talks nicely about SRK unlike SRK who always tries to snub Salman topic whenever he is asked. He talked about Aamir, SRK, Akshay & how he considers them as his competition. He wanted to talk about Hrithik as well but Kjo changed the topic. Kjo brought up the fact that how Salman helped Hrithik during his initial days. I am damn sure HR is very grateful to Salman for that. He was in all praise for Deepika. I was quite amazed to see that. That means he is genuinely fond of her & there is a possibility of them working together in SB's next. Good, bring it on. Even when he was asked about Alia, Parineeti & Sonakshi, he took Deepika's name who wasn't even in the option. LOL! All those who are saying Salman insulted Kareena by saying that 'Housewife' comment, let me tell you that it was said in a good & harmless way. He is immensely fond of Kareena. They go back a long way. Salman is best buddies with Karisma & have huge affection for Kareena as well. It's visible when he interacts with her. They are too close knit. So stop looking at it in a negative way. Moment of the day was when Kjo asked him about that 'Gay encounter' question. LOL! The answer was epic. I knew that his reply would be 'You Karan'. Salman also made it clear that wanted to be "THE GUY" if he ever had a gay encounter with Kjo. LMAO! Kjo's reaction to that was epic. He was literally blushing! Many times I felt Kjo wanted to kiss Salman but controlled himself. I noticed KJo's face was RED by the time the rapid fire round ended. He also mentioned that Ash is a stunning actress. I totally agree with him. ''Have fun'', ''Make sure he doesn't have fun''. Another epic lines by Salman. & yes I think Kjo & SLB r having something :P Go ahead Salman if you want to marry Preity. You have our permission. This was one of the best Rapid Fire rounds ever. With Salim Khan it got little emotional. Loved their equation with each other. I felt s sad when he talked about that Jodhpur incident. Had almost tears in my eyes. That was touchy. He has never defended Salman when he was not sue. He loves his son but still respect the judiciary. Respect!! What I didn't like is that Salman underestimated himself as an actor. That was bullshit. Come on Salman, you are a wonderful actor. You are one of the very few actors who are very natural on screen. So don't say that again, okay? you are a Great actor. On the whole it was a Great & very entertaining episode. Salman was very witty & enjoying himself. Thank you Karan Johar for bringing this side of him to us. And Thank you Salman for being so candid. This episode will always be remembered. WE ARE GOING TO FEED OFF THIS EPISODE FOR YEARS TO COME.
ReplyDeleteSalman is quite boring, man, he's always lecturing, you can tell he is used to playing godfather in his real life. Best part was the 2 stories about Kumar Gaurav ( I didn't know he had Rajesh Khanna level of stardom at one time! Amazing how quickly his life changed ...) and Govinda ( so humble ), sweet stories. When Salman said " but, I'm the guy!", haha, Karan was caught off-guard by that comment. Karan -"You are very honoured to have won the gift hamper" ? lol
ReplyDeleteIt was more like Koffee with Salman than KWK. Very handsome, articulate & direct, well done Sallu bhai, I was thoroughly entertained. He's a very good actor I'll give him that because to sell a lie you need a pretty strict poker face and that he had in the bits where he was obviously lying for comic relief. It felt like he was hosting the show because he flipped every question Karan asked him and even flustered KJO with that gay remark "but I'm the guy na? LOL!!! He's just too good yaar. Man, he even refused to be upstaged by that noisy watch-bracelet thingy (which I inexplicably want by the way lol) and I like how he said "I lie all the time now" moments before the virgin question came up. Even in a lie he's shockingly honest. I think besides comic relief we all know he has said this "he's a virgin" thing to save the face of every girl who has ever been linked to him. And bless him for recognising his flaws and distinguishing between the old him and the new him and also recognising that after a failed relationship in Bollywood, it's the girl who carries the stigma. This was the best episode thus far in the history of the show imho, no one will ever forget it even if Sallu Bhai comes back 100x times after it. When he was showing the benefits of sleeping alone, I was thinking he would jump on the couch like a la Tom Cruise. Loads of respect to Salim Khan as well, seems like such a great father and person.
ReplyDeleteBest part: Sallu bhai's facial expressions (especially when his father was talking), his outburst of "arre kya yaar saab?" during his rapid fire, his jokes & sincere moments like the jeans story. Also, the wise words and stories that came from his father later on in the show.
Worst part: KJO's opening reel with the "I'm back" dance number. Ugh. Also, sallu bhai giving way too much expression when he acted like Katrina asking "where's Ranbir?" He should have just asked the question like a robot.
