After the sessions court rejected Sooraj's bail plea last week, he has now moved to Bombay High Court for bail.
The sessions court had observed that "Jiah Khan was depressed after having an abortion, she was mentally and physically tortured by Sooraj Pancholi, which pushed her to commit suicide" . The sessions court thus rejected Sooraj's bail application.
Aditya Pancholi's son Sooraj Pancholi is currently in jail on the charges of abetting the suicide of Jiah Khan. Jiah, who committed suicide on June 3rd, had written a detailed note explaining how her boyfriend subjected her to physical and mental abuse. The note was found by Jiah's sisters a few days after her suicide. Though Jiah did not specifically name Sooraj in the note, her mother Rabbiya Khan confirmed that it was indeed Sooraj who had always been abusive towards her.
Sooraj, who is currently in the Arthur Road prison in central Mumbai, mentions in his bail plea that he is innocent and that Rabbiya is misusing Jiah's letter.
The High Court is likely to hear the bail application on July 5.
