Race 2 Movie Review

Here are the movie reviews for Race 2:
Review By: Sneha May Francis Site: Emirates 24by7
On many levels, a movie that’s all fluff and no stuff can be quite exhausting. And, ‘Race2’ is just that. It’s just a pompous wannabe-thriller that is devoid of any logic. It’s a race, we are told, on numerous occasions, by the two leading heroes and their two gorgeous sidekicks, almost trying to justify why they’ve taken two-hours-and-thirty-minutes of our lives. Yet, there’s never a real sense of what they are racing for. Time, money, babes, or cars? While its predecessor, the original ‘Race’, had shown some promise and glimpse of a good plot, ‘Race2’ steers away from any such attempts, and instead focuses on good looks and charm. On the whole, this is just a lazy sequel of a famed potboiler that can be watched at home… on a (borrowed) DVD.

Race 2, bears all those familiar trademarks of a heady cocktail of betrayal, high-octane action, feisty women combined with twists that will take audiences on adventure-filled rollercoaster ride. Like Race, even the sequel never reveals all its cards at once. The layers come off one by one, and each time you think you've got it all figured out, another shocker hits you out of the blue.On the whole, the makers of Race 2 have made sure to keep the audience entertained so far. We hope to check out more of action, deep secrets, mind-boggling twists further. We'll be back with the final review soon......

Wanna get entertained? Once again, don’t get into logics and statistics as we have been doing for some recent past action masala flicks.
There is a slick treatment of high adrenaline action scenes that rate up to be one of the best in Bollywood.
Abbas Mustan had shown some promise and glimpse of a good plot in ‘Race’, but ‘Race 2’ is just a lazy sequel of a famed potboiler and it seems they want to cash in on the success of the first instalment.‘Race2’ steers away from any such attempts, and instead focuses on good looks and charm mostly.
Put down with a bad script, I’ll go with 2.5 stars for this action drama which has nothing new to offer except a cast of half a dozen of glamorous stars.

On the face of it, Race 2 is a glitzy, action-packed entertainer. Scratch the surface – in fact, that is all there is to the film – and what you are left with is superficial style bereft of logic and substance.
Race 2 is slickly packaged around dramatic twists and turns that fly at you thicker and faster than you care to count.
Is Race 2 on your mind? Get rid of it pronto. This is a wreck of a movie strictly for action junkies who might be looking for a feverish two-and-a-half-hour ride that is far more giddy than heady.

Let me state at the very outset that RACE 2 doesn't entirely meet the monstrous expectations. Abbas-Mustan, coupled with screenwriter Shiraz Ahmed, have put together a motion picture that's stylish and engaging, with an international look and feel.
On the whole, RACE 2 has a rocking first half, glam and glitz, great looking men and women, spectacular locales, extravagant making, adrenaline pumping action and of course, a solid brand that's gonna make moviegoers flock the cineplexes initially, but the film lacks the sustaining power thanks to its uneven second half. The writing isn't watertight, the film lacks a hit score, the climax is far from effective and overall, RACE 2 pales in comparison to RACE.

Tightly done action sequences, lots of glamour and one liners that cater to the classes and the masses is what makes Race 2 worth a watch. Thankfully, after a long time the director duo of Abbas-Mustan have got a winner in their hands with this sequel as they handle this suspense-thriller with the panache that reminds audiences of Baazigar and Khiladi.
While the ensemble cast has done a super job of making a gripping thriller -- would call it a thriller rather than a suspense-thriller because the suspense is very predictable -- after a long time in Bollywood, the climax and music are the two sore points of the movie.
One must then watch Race 2 for Saif, who with his polished dialogue deliveries and smart one-liners, Abraham, who has played a scheming businessman with aplomb and of course for all the three ravishing ladies who also know how to act.

‘Race 2’ has every ingredient of an Abbas Mustan flick. It’s got oodles of glamour, scorching style, sleek Bond-ish heroes, gorgeous ladies, characters with more than fifty shades of grey, some enjoyable background music, talks of yachts, and oh boy - some cars, and overshadowing every other thing – money!
In all, ‘Race 2’ is a grand display of money. The adrenaline-pumping action is the plus point of the film, but too much of that does no good to it. Two and a half stars from me for this Friday’s ‘expensive’ release.

There are often good reasons why retreads do not reach the same level as the original. In 2008, 'Race' gave us bad guys and very bad girls who used bronzers and booze as lethal weapons, and Abbas Mustan managed to make of that mix a slick thriller. Five years later, we have a sequel, and it's all so been there-seen that-so what, that 'Race 2' just passes in front of our eyes without registering.
'Race 2' looks exactly like 'Race'. Which may have been intentional because plush locations and pretty playthings and buff men are very much Abbas Mustan trademarks. But all it does is cause a dismally same-same feeling.

The only change in an Abbas-Mustan film ever is the characters. At this point, all the twists are predictable and you know that the hero will stand tall with his cape flying in the end. The men and women look beautiful and no one bothers to act. The direction is stylish with everything shiny: the actors, cars, casinos, furniture… If you still love Abbas-Mustan for the fast cars, sexy women, hot men, and the insane amounts of money that just keeps flying around, you’ll be happy with this fare as well.
Watch Race 2 only if you want to sit through two-and-a-half hours of no-brainer twists, compensated only by the booty show on screen.

he Abbas-Mustan directed Race 2 delivers what it promises — good looking ensemble cast, exotic locations, cars, bomb squads, revenge, lust and love, a couple of good music tracks and, most importantly, a plot which unravels at a thrilling pace. Race 2 is that kind of a film where one can’t elaborate on the story at all, given it’s turns and twists are what keep the race on.
At some point in the film, Deepika says “I can recognize that money making expression anywhere” and to that I’d say, Abbas Mustan have a big money maker on their hands with Race 2.

  2. Always bewildered and suspect Bollywood's acceptability to Saif playing such roles............... Poor dialogue delivery with pressing hard you to believe & accept him as shrewd & Bollywood's Tom Cruise is a mockery to Bollywood industry. Seems there are always better bet then Saif - He can play a role of comedian with ease but always worth watching Rajpal in such roles..... WOW!!!!!!!!!
