VOGUE DIARIES: Rare interview with Shweta Nanda

Calling Shweta Nanda reticent would be an understatement. Her family tree reads like a lexicon of Bollywood A-listers -- father Amitabh Bachchan, mother Jaya, brother Abhishek, sis-in-law Aishwarya Rai -- and yet, Shweta has consistently managed to keep her name off the marquee and out of Page Three.
In a rare video interview, VOGUE India’s November cover girl reveals who she picked up her style cues from.

“My mother is the most important fashion influence. She always wore subdued colours like beige and white, and her make-up was always played down,” she says. As for her own decidedly classic dressing sense, Shweta adds, "When you’re younger, the designers you buy from are seasonal. But as you get older, you buy something that’s classic and will last you a lot longer."
Watch, as Shweta Nanda finally let's us in...

  1. Yawn. Who cares man. This woman is a glorified housewife! The only reason she made it onto the cover of Vogue is because of who her parents are.

  2. Being a housewife and mother is not a bad thing. But why is she on the cover? There are so many other housewives and mother- how come they are not on the cover.
