Here are the reviews for Talaash:

Though Aamir has portrayed the role of a cop earlier, he brings something new to the table with his spellbinding performance in TALAASH. The earnestness and authenticity with which he enacts his character cannot be expressed in a few sentences. That would be doing gross injustice to the actor's abilities, frankly. He holds the camera in every frame and charges assertively through the film, making you believe in Inspector Shekhawat's journey in entirety. It's a standout piece of acting, unquestionably. That Aamir is the best actor of his generation comes to the fore yet again!
Both Rani and Kareena are given a moment in the sun, despite Aamir dominating the film with a power-packed performance. Rani is superb as the troubled wife, while Kareena is terrific as the hooker. Together the two actresses deliver admirable performances that would definitely merit a mention in award ceremonies next year. The sequences between Aamir and Kareena in particular are simply fantastic!
On the whole, TALAASH is an outstanding film. A taut psychological thriller that keeps you guessing till the end, it leaves you spellbound, leaves you mesmerized, leaves you with an exclamation, 'Wow!'. An absolute must watch for all movie buffs. You just can't afford to miss this one!

Talaash’ is an incredibly rousing tale of deceit, betrayal and revenge, set against the backdrop of an unforgiving city. It’s a story that forces us to look beyond the obvious, and explore the unknown. The narrative is slow, and intended, brilliantly capturing the essence of what truly lies beneath. Reema’s incredible genius lies in her ability to involve the audience without unveiling too much until the very end. And, it’s those few moments of revelation that’s the most riveting. Reema and Zoya have worked out the most enthralling suspense drama without succumbing to any Bollywood cliché. Even Ram Sampath’s striking musical compositions are played to accentuate the narrative and not puncture it.It’s by far the most honest movie in a long time.

At interval, the movie takes an interesting twist. From a. Dabbawala to Mumbai's railway network. The film depicts the insides of Mumbai brilliantly! While Aamir occupies the maximum screen space, the other actors manage to create a big impact!. Must say, even though Rani has a small part to play, she looks way more compelling in Talaash than in Aiyyaa.

Aamir Khan never ceases to surprise viewers. In "Talaash", he does so quite literally. The succinctly written, complex screenplay, smoothly interlays between the police investigation and personal emotional turmoil of the characters make "Talaash" a nail-biting thriller.
The mystery shrouding the case, unravels gradually in a carefully written tight script, with no loopholes. The film is entirely unpredictable, not conforming to the usual approach to thrillers in Bollywood. This one is clearly different and keeps you guessing till the very end.
The climax brings you to the edge of your seat, but leaves you satiated. As the case unfolds, you get your answers from the characters on celluloid. But clearly, Reema Kagti and Zoya Akhtar, the scriptwriter duo, give you much more than just that. They take you through a complete self-exploratory journey and bring you back replete with answers. Farhan Akhtar's dialogues in colloquial parlance are witty and unleash several underlying messages.
Ram Sampath gives an apt background score, in keeping with the flavour of the film and if anything, only enhances the viewer's experience. Music in the film otherwise is nothing to write home about, but you're definitely not complaining. The plot and performances leave no room for frivolities.
Rani Mukerji in her de-glam avatar, is true to her character as the distraught mother. Nawazuddin Siddiqui as Taimur, the lame Man Friday in the brothel doing odd jobs, excels in a superbly written role. Realistic performances and get ups of all the characters, add to the ingenuity of the plot.
The cinematography, though simple, captures the essence of Mumbai. The locales of the city are wonderfully depicted, making those, a character in the film, rather than a mere backdrop.
Devoid of the usual Bollywood masala and gimmicks, this one is a pure treat. Aamir Khan's fans apart, "Talaash" has the power to grip all cine-goers.
