Is Bollywood running out of ideas?

In the recent past, bollywood has been in the midst of quite a few remakes and the future of bollywood is also loaded with some more remakes and numerous sequels. Is bollywood actually running out of
ideas?

Amidst the original ones that make an appearance at intervals, off late its the remakes and sequels that is ruling the box office. While its not a bad thing to be remaking a movie, what would be a treat is to have a movie remade that is better than the original. Otherwise we could just watch the original movies with subtitles, no? Many of you might not agree with me on this, honestly, wouldn't it be better to watch "Sholay" than even attempt to watch "Aag" and be disgusted? Having said that, there are film makers who remake movies that has the basic story line of the original, yet is good different. An example of that would be Farhan Akhtar's version of Don.
And then there are the sequels and third parts of the same movie. Again, a sequel I think should be the maximum a film goes to because remember, three is a crowd in most cases unless it is THAT interesting. A "Dhoom 3" might not be a bad idea but a "Krrish 2"?I am not too sure.
Bollywood from time immemorial have sourced their stories from hollywood but maybe now they might be running out of ideas too. Which is why we saw the english remake of Salman - Sushmita - Katrina starrer, "Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya" in the form of Jennifer Aniston - Adam Sandler starrer, "Just Go With It". And this could be the reason why bollywood is now looking for stories from closer home, mainly south indian films. Though it was Priyadarshan who paved the way for this, bollywood film maker are now becoming more confident to remake south indian films.
While this is not an unhealthy trend, one might prefer watching movies that doesn't remind them of another movie that then leads to comparisons and unfair verdicts. For this, the bollywood brigade of film makers and script writers might need to put on their thinking caps and pen down some original stories.

  4. The funny thing is you make remake and it becomes a hit somebody's creativity and you want awards for it so so funny wake up bollywood and the media is not helping matters by selecting particular people to pick on while they hype some constantly like KAT

  5. That is what it seems like..its the era of remakes and copies. I just miss those typical sweet indian movies now..k3g..ddlj..vivah, kuch kuch hota hai...and you know the drill. That's why now a days I stick to south movies...Im south indian but I have always only watched hindi movies. But now Ive switched to south movies cause there are quite some relaly good movies like Bommarillu...Ready Telugu version, Happy telugu!! I really hope a really good hindi movie comes out soon...cause so far no movie has really made me want to watch it again..since...maybe jaane tu ya jaane na...aur ghajni...

  6. the majority of films bollywood make are just pure rubbish - nonsensical comedies most of the time or blatant copies of other films of other industries. it's a shame really for the small proportion of bollywood films that are original with great concepts and good acting that backs them up perhaps they may be lesser known - such as udaan, do dooni char etc from last year. thing with remakes is that if you've watched the original, you know what to expect and that detracts from the excitement and doesn't make it as interesting as it could be for the viewer. i'm not a big fan of remakes but if they are done well then i have no problem with them. bollywood has many more problems though as well.
