South actress Trisha Krishnan got engaged to her industrialist fiance Varun Manian at a private ceremony in Chennai. Trisha, who also worked in a Bollywood movie 'Khatta Meetha' in the year 2010, is a big name down south. Her engagement ceremony was graced by the who's who of Southern film industry including Kamal Haasan, Mani Ratnam, Amala Paul and AL Vijay among others.
Baby (2015) Movie Review
‘Spoilers Ahead’
A film on terror needs to be almost perfect in its portrayal of facts. As Indian audiences are now familiar with kick ass TV shows like ‘Homeland’, and films like ‘The Hurt Locker’, even a simple flaw on a terror-based film irks massively. And that is precisely the problem with ‘Baby’.
Director Neeraj Pandey’s action thriller about a covert wing of Indian intelligence begins with his signature style of a background voice giving the audience a quick round up of this unique crew of ‘secret agents’ and their dangerous jobs. With references to ‘maximum plausibility’ and serial blast plans, the film becomes a loud adrenaline ride for secret agent Ajay (Akshay Kumar)- and his mates (Taapsee Pannu & Rana Dagubatti, Anupam Kher post interval) in their quest to foil terror. They follow no rules, and curiously, belong to no department or ministry of the Indian government. An authentic looking terror monger from ‘border areas’ of Pakistan is introduced, as the mastermind who wants to free junior mastermind (Kay Kay Menon) from India’s jails to conduct a horrifying attack on Indian cities. Then junior mastermind escapes to foreign lands- and Ajay and his mates, Anupam Kher and Rana Daggubati follow. They land a bonus there. I won’t say more as it is simply not ethical.

Alone Movie Review
Horror films often bring up this dilemma for me. Do I watch them for frights and thrills? Or do I also seek a story, a plot and credible context? Fans of horror cinema might not agree with me. If you seek jumps, and scares, ‘Alone’ does not disappoint. But looking for anything more will leave you disappointed.
In brief, ‘Alone’, a remake of a Thai film by the same name, tells the story of Sanjana & Anjana, conjoined twins (Bipasha as both). They share lives, and live amicably, committed to being sisters forever. Jealousy and anger sour their soul sister like relationship when one of them falls in love with Kabir, a boy from their school (Karan Singh Grover). They decided to separate after a complicated operation, and only one, Sanjana survives. She leaves her family home to find marital bliss with Kabir. When her mother falls sick and is hospitalized, she has to return to a home filled with memories of her other half, Anjana. Hauntings begin, and the house begins to indicate that the dead sister, Anjana, has returned to seek revenge.

"I" Movie Review
Scale and spectacle are synonymous with Shankar - the Tamil filmmaker often likened to James Cameroon by his fans. With “I” he stuns, and stretches imagination, offering a visual spectacle, that stays with you much after you have left the theater. And there’s a second huge incentive to watch this canvass - Vikram.
In brief, “I” is Lingesan’s story, a body builder spouting street side language, focused on becoming Mr. Tamil Nadu and totally besotted by Diya, a popular model (Amy Jackson). In his journey of becoming an ace body builder, a super model, and Diya’s lover, Lingesan AKA Lee, makes many enemies - a rival tree trunk of a body builder, a soft drink magnate, a cross dressing stylist and a rival male model (Ojas M Rajani and Upen Patel play the stylist and male model respectively). And there’s a questionable family doctor, mentor and family friend to Diya, saccharine sweet, and creepy. (Suresh Gopi). A conspiracy and some beating up lead to Lingesan’s transformation into a deformed character - whereby a saga of elaborate revenge follows.
First, I will tackle what doesn’t work. Perhaps it’s the poor standard of poor dubbing of South Indian films in Bollywood - but crass reference to a woman’s anatomy (case in point, Amy Jackson’s breasts) made me cringe. And an overwhelming homophobia and ridiculing of alternate sexuality put me off. Such dubbing is simply not worthy of Vikram’s stature or Shankar’s standards. Perhaps, subtitling would work better.
