<b><span style="color: #38761d;">Kerala actor Dileep's wife, Kavya Madhavan, today applied for anticipatory bail in connection with the kidnapping and sexual assault of an actress in February. The court has posted the matter for Monday. </span></b><br />
<b><span style="color: #38761d;"><br /></span></b>
<b><span style="color: #38761d;">Kavya's move comes amid speculation that she too might be arrested in the case. The police had questioned Kavya and her mother ahead of Dileep's arrest on July 10 for his involvement in the conspiracy that led to the abduction and molestation of the actress.</span></b><br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<b><span style="color: #38761d;"><br /></span></b>
<b><span style="color: #38761d;"><br /></span></b>
<b><span style="color: #38761d;">In her plea, Kavya alleged that the investigation team was being totally "biased, partisan, and ill motivated". She alleged that the officers in the probe team "made open threats of arraying" her as an accused to "cover up lacunas in the unfounded allegations against her husband Dileep and intimidate" all persons associated with him. She also accused the officers of "selectively leaking news" to the media against her to carry out "valueless but targeted media trial" in the case.</span></b><br />
<b><span style="color: #38761d;"><br /></span></b>
<b><span style="color: #38761d;">Following his arrest, Dileep has been lodged in the Aluva sub-jail. His previous three bail applications were turned down, and he submitted his fourth on Thursday at a trial court. The court on Saturday extended his judicial remand till September 28.</span></b><br />
<b><span style="color: #38761d;"><br /></span></b>
<b><span style="color: #38761d;">While rejecting his bail requests, the court had said that as the investigation was underway and if granted bail, the actor could tamper with evidence or influence witnesses.</span></b><br />
<b><span style="color: #38761d;"><br /></span></b>
<b><span style="color: #38761d;">Earlier this month, Dileep was allowed to perform his father's death anniversary rituals at his residence in Aluva amid tight police security. </span></b><br />
<b><span style="color: #38761d;"><br /></span></b>
<b><span style="color: #38761d;">The 48-year-old actor was arrested after many rounds of questioning and charged with rape, criminal conspiracy, wrongful confinement after the actress was forcefully restrained in her vehicle, driven around and sexually assaulted in Kochi.</span></b><br />
<b><span style="color: #38761d;"><br /></span></b>
<b><span style="color: #38761d;">The police said they have concrete evidence in the abduction of the young actress on February 17 when she was travelling from Thrissur to Kochi by road. For two hours she was sexually assaulted by at least four men who recorded the attack on a mobile phone. They dumped her near the home of a director, who informed the police.</span></b><br />
<b><span style="color: #38761d;"><br /></span></b>
<b><span style="color: #38761d;">According to the police report, Dileep had in 2013 offered Rs. 1.5 crore to Pulsar Suni, the main accused in this case to attack the actress. The actor had allegedly demanded the assault to be recorded on a mobile phone and sent along with nude photographs of the actress. </span></b><br />
<b><span style="color: #38761d;"><br /></span></b>
<b><span style="color: #38761d;">Pulsar Suni, and his accomplice were arrested a week after the actress was abducted and dumped outside director Lal's residence.</span></b><br />
<b><span style="color: #38761d;"><br /></span></b>
<b><span style="color: #38761d;">Dileep has denied all allegations and has alleged a conspiracy against him.</span></b><br />
<b><span style="color: #38761d;"><br /></span></b>
<b><span style="color: #38761d;">It's Dileep and Kavya's second marriage. While Dileep was earlier married to actress Manju Warrier, Kavya was married to a computer engineer. Dileep and Kavya got married on November 25, 2016.</span></b><br />

<b><span style="background-color: #d0e0e3; color: #351c75;">Malayalam actor-director Nadir Shah was questioned by Kerala Police, on 17 September, for over four hours in the Malayalam actress abduction case before being allowed to go.</span></b><br />
<b><span style="background-color: #d0e0e3; color: #351c75;"><br /></span></b>
<b><span style="background-color: #d0e0e3; color: #351c75;">He had appeared before the police probe team on 15 September, but after a while, fell sick. Following the advice of a medical team, police had stopped the questioning and let him go.</span></b><br />
<b><span style="background-color: #d0e0e3; color: #351c75;"><br /></span></b>
<b><span style="background-color: #d0e0e3; color: #351c75;">Shah reached the Aluva Police Club at 10 am and underwent a medical check up before the questioning began.</span></b><br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<b><span style="background-color: #d0e0e3; color: #351c75;"><br /></span></b>
<b><span style="background-color: #d0e0e3; color: #351c75;">Emerging at 3 pm, Shah told the waiting media that it was on the direction of police that he decided to seek medical advice after he fell sick on 15 September, but said that he wanted it to go on as he wanted to clear his name.</span></b><br />
<b><span style="background-color: #d0e0e3; color: #351c75;"><br /></span></b>
<b><span style="background-color: #d0e0e3; color: #351c75;">"There was a media hype against me and lots of lies are being spread against me, so more than anyone else, it's my need that I come clean... I answered all the questions that were put up to me and police were friendly towards me," said Shah. He also maintained that superstar Dileep, arrested for alleged involvement in the conspiracy behind the abduction, is innocent.</span></b><br />
<b><span style="background-color: #d0e0e3; color: #351c75;"><br /></span></b>
<b><span style="background-color: #d0e0e3; color: #351c75;">The police probe team will now submit the details of the questioning to the Kerala High Court on 18 September as Shah's anticipatory bail plea is before it.</span></b><br />
<b><span style="background-color: #d0e0e3; color: #351c75;"><br /></span></b>
<b><span style="background-color: #d0e0e3; color: #351c75;">The high court last week directed the police probe team not to arrest Shah till 18 September, but asked him to appear before the police probe team.</span></b><br />
<b><span style="background-color: #d0e0e3; color: #351c75;"><br /></span></b>
<b><span style="background-color: #d0e0e3; color: #351c75;">17 September was the second time that Shah was questioned at length. In June, he and Dileep first appeared for questioning and were allowed to go after a marathon 13-hour-long session.</span></b><br />
<b><span style="background-color: #d0e0e3; color: #351c75;"><br /></span></b>
<b><span style="background-color: #d0e0e3; color: #351c75;">But on 10 July, Dileep was arrested after further questioning and since then he has been in the Aluva sub-jail as three of his bail pleas were turned down.</span></b><br />
<b><span style="background-color: #d0e0e3; color: #351c75;"><br /></span></b>
<b><span style="background-color: #d0e0e3; color: #351c75;">Monday, 18 September, will be a crucial day in the case, as Shah's anticipatory bail is posted for hearing as is Dileep's wife and actress Kavya Madhavan, while the trial court will pronounce its verdict on Dileep's fourth bail plea.</span></b><br />
<b><span style="background-color: #d0e0e3; color: #351c75;"><br /></span></b>
<b><span style="background-color: #d0e0e3; color: #351c75;">The abduction took place in February, when the actress was on her way from Thrissur to Kochi.</span></b><br />
<b><span style="background-color: #d0e0e3; color: #351c75;"><br /></span></b>
<b><span style="background-color: #d0e0e3; color: #351c75;">She was taken around in her vehicle forcefully for about two hours before being dumped near actor-director Lal's home, from where police was informed.</span></b><br />
<b><span style="background-color: #d0e0e3; color: #351c75;"><br /></span></b>
<b><span style="background-color: #d0e0e3; color: #351c75;">The key accused — Pulsar Suni and his accomplices involved in the actual abduction — were arrested a week later and following detailed questioning, police unearthed an alleged conspiracy angle in the abduction and arrested Dileep.</span></b></div>

<div style="background-color: white; font-family: 'Droid Serif', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 22px; padding: 0px 0px 20px; text-align: justify;">
<b><span style="color: red;"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Let's give Nitya Mehra some credit that she thought of a novel way to say the same old story. Spare a look to the little joys of life, live in the moment. Love. Laugh. Somewhere in her is a little girl who loves her frothy </span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">rom-coms</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"> and on canvas, she comes pretty close to whipping up a satisfying, watchable love story. Childhood sweethearts Dia and Jai have been inseparable since they met as tiny tots, holding hands and enjoying life like kids. She pops the question and he goes with the flow. Alas, that ends up becoming their entire life. Jai is a man child, shirking from responsibilities, commitment, socially awkward and a flight risk. He is Chandler Bing minus the sarcasm. The biggest problem with Jai is that he lacks personality. You bet his students won't agree because they clearly are more interested in seeing him jabber about formulas than in the knowledge he is trying to impart. He is uni-dimensional with </span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">perpetually</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"> perplexed look on his face. He doesn't know why he is in love with his girlfriend. </span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Maybe</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"> that's because they have been together for so long that they have become an old married couple. She knows his </span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">favourite</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"> dishes - <em>butter </em></span><em><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">nan</span></em><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"> with <em>butter chicken</em> and extra butter. She is family, she is his cup of nice perfect coffee, his sunshine but somewhere he takes the love for granted. Typical? Well, totally. </span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">She, on the other hand</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"> is the bubbliest she has ever been, the most she has ever acted. What really works is the chemistry. It is amazing how two such </span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">non-actors</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"> manage to make you feel all mushy and gooey. </span></span></b></div>
<a name='more'></a><br />
<div style="background-color: white; font-family: 'Droid Serif', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 22px; padding: 0px 0px 20px; text-align: justify;">
<b><span style="color: red;"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">But such a story comes with its issues. The time lapses are exhausting and Sidharth, who looks lost in each scene does so with authenticity but doesn't try to further the story or add depth to the character. You don't feel his pain at all because his acting isn't exactly up to the mark. It takes a really fine director to bring out the best in him. We never </span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">sympathise</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"> for him but he is like the little puppy you go </span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">awww</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"> for. Katrina is marginally better than him because she has really acted. Her blank eyes full of pain is done beautifully but her character suffers from weak writing. We never know what really goes wrong between her and Jai. Yes, he is a negligent husband, fretting about his career and clueless about his personal life. But his passion for Mathematics doesn't come anywhere close to Ranbir Kapoor's fantastic fanatic craze for travel. He doesn't sell it enough to us and no wonder we don't connect with him. </span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Similarly,</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"> Dia's pangs for her homeland and her Hanuman Chalisa chanting father isn't explored well enough. The supporting cast comprising the luminous Sarika, the talented Ram Kapoor, the sparkling Sayani Gupta and the forgettable Rohan Joshi was left </span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">unused</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">.</span></span></b></div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-family: 'Droid Serif', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 22px; padding: 0px 0px 20px; text-align: justify;">
<b><span style="color: red;"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">But there is a major problem with the concept. While it is hunky dory to say that we are so busy chasing dreams that we don't care for our families but is it so bad to pursue your dream. The film's understanding of the </span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">work dynamics</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"> is skewed. Then why do I praise Nitya? Because she is bold, her sense of scale and gorgeous canvases is fantastic. Her ear for music is worth raving about. And of course, there is a certain Jasleen Royal whose music and voice </span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">leave</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"> a more haunting impact than the film itself.</span></span></b></div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-family: 'Droid Serif', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 22px; padding: 0px 0px 20px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><b><span style="color: red;">If you view this as a film about two good looking people who are in love and in the price of a movie ticket, you get to see gorgeous locales in Thailand, Katrina in a beautiful pink bikini, a drop dead gorgeous man with dreamy eyes and trip to the future. Dude, the gadgets in 2043 do look slick. If you have to settle for a half-baked story for the sake of all this, I say it ain't a bad bet.</span></b></span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-family: 'Droid Serif', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 22px; padding: 0px 0px 20px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><b><span style="color: red;">We rate the film a 55%</span></b></span></div>

<div dir="ltr" style="background-color: white; direction: ltr; font-family: 'Droid Serif', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 22px; padding: 0px 0px 20px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><b><span style="color: red;">Expect Dishoom to knock you out. What more can you ask from a day when Mumbai monsoons are getting the better of you? Well, we went in hoping for two hours of mindless fun and the Dishoom boys - John, Varun and Akshaye, sure know how to show the audience a good time. A pat on Rohit Dhawan's back for the perfect casting. The man-hulk John is in his steely, grim, brooding best. Flexing his muscles, flaunting his biceps and glaring intensely, he owns Kabir with elan. This Munnabhai finds a befitting Circuit in Varun Dhawan. His man-child, masala boy act is adorable. He makes Junaid endearing. After Badlapur, one would've assumed that Varun is all about insightful characters. But watch this film and you'll know that the Dhawan genes in him are never too far away. There are very few actors who can make buffoonery look affable and Varun seems to be having so much fun at his job that you can't help be wooed. Right in the first few scenes of the movie, you'll be reminded of the Hollywood flick Bad Boys. The references are hard to miss but that hardly deters Rohit from making a rousing concoction of the best bromantic movies of Hollywood. Clichéd, predictable and equally entertaining, Rohit wins this wager. </span></b></span></div>
<a name='more'></a><br />
<div dir="ltr" style="background-color: white; direction: ltr; font-family: 'Droid Serif', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 22px; padding: 0px 0px 20px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><b><span style="color: red;">A top batsman is kidnapped two days before an epic India Pakistan match. Reason - the cricketer refused to be bought over by a scheming bookie's fat cheques. The abduction is the only way of keeping him down and out from a detrimental match. A Special Task officer is brought upon to nab the culprit and bring the hero back on pitch. The chase takes us through unexplored harems in an unknown underground city. The eye soother in this film is the gorgeous Jacqueline Fernandez, who joins the boys to find the champ before the match. The camaraderie, the chemistry is infallible. The trio put together a spectacular show. </span></b></span></div>
<div dir="ltr" style="background-color: white; direction: ltr; font-family: 'Droid Serif', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 22px; padding: 0px 0px 20px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><b><span style="color: red;">The film's writing is crisp (though faulty at places), every scene is well etched, every character is well sketched and every action scene is pitch perfect. There is glamorous, larger than life, slick action. Men fly but this time the power of cinema wins over the action director's gimmicky vein. You want to to suspend logic for sometime and believe that's how cops fight. John at action is top notch and surprisingly Varun matches his energy efficiently. Yes, the clichés are in galore but there is nothing as satisfying as a well done film. </span></b></span></div>
<div dir="ltr" style="background-color: white; direction: ltr; font-family: 'Droid Serif', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 22px; padding: 0px 0px 20px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><b><span style="color: red;">But what doesn't work is Jacqueline. While she ups the oomph in the film, her character also cuts into the film's pace. Logic is the last thing on the mind of the writers here. How the STF is involved in a case in which the abductor doesn't demand ransom seems right out of a no brainer? But Rohit doesn't allow you to ponder much on the pitfalls. There are fashionable fiestas, droolworthy men, dangerous chases and a menacing villain. </span></b></span></div>

<span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><b><span style="color: red;">Akshaye Khanna has a small role in the film but the actor does a fine act. He is still the man you loathed in <em>Race</em> and<em>Humraaz</em>. He is an effortless baddie, matching the vigour of John and Varun ably. It was a surprise that despite the lack of a well fleshed character, he makes Wagah appealing. The evil streak and his sturdy acting skills makes his act compelling. </span></b></span></div>
<div dir="ltr" style="background-color: white; direction: ltr; font-family: 'Droid Serif', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 22px; padding: 0px 0px 20px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><b><span style="color: red;">Akshay Kumar is smashing in his crackling cameo. Reserve the best thing for the movie. Let's just say we hooted for the man bun.</span></b></span></div>
<div dir="ltr" style="background-color: white; direction: ltr; font-family: 'Droid Serif', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 22px; padding: 0px 0px 20px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><b><span style="color: red;">The film's interesting premise gives it a refreshing feel. The plot could be threadbare but the breezy narrative keeps it pleasant. While the film rides delightfully in the first half, the contrivances begin appearing post hour. With every predictable scene, the film is a little more derailed. It all feels a little lackluster in the climax but committed performances help the show sail through well. A large reason why you like the movie is because of its ability to make you enjoy. Pritam deserves due credit for the sassy songs which lighten the mood of the film. There could've been more tension considering the genre but you make do with just the thrills, as the end can be spotted from a distance. </span></b></span></div>
<div dir="ltr" style="background-color: white; direction: ltr; font-family: 'Droid Serif', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 22px; padding: 0px 0px 20px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><b><span style="color: red;">Applaud the screen presence of Varun Dhawan, the camaraderie between him and John, the latter's chiseled physique, the low emo fluff (thankfully) and everyone who decided to come together for a movie that looks like everyone is having a blast. To get John to do that is often an insurmountable task but The Dhawan brothers make sure Dishoom is trippy. It is a good looking, pacy movie that flaunts bling, stunts and babes. Dishoom is well made and is a hell lot of fun. </span></b></span></div>
<div dir="ltr" style="background-color: white; direction: ltr; font-family: 'Droid Serif', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 22px; padding: 0px 0px 20px; text-align: justify;">

<div style="background-color: white; font-family: 'Droid Serif', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 22px; padding: 0px 0px 20px; text-align: justify;">
<b><span style="color: #cc0000;"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Reviewing a film like </span><em><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Kabali</span></em><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"> is an utterly pointless exercise. Who cares about a review when there is someone as enamoring as Rajinikanth scorching the screens...It is hard to believe that the super (duper) star has been reigning at the movies since the last many decades but there is no shine lost. He dazzles with all his might, his star power is overwhelming. And that's how this film is designed. Call it vanity, call it pompous but like every Rajinikanth outing of the recent past, this too is all about him. Suck out his swagger and the movie is just a dull show.</span></span></b></div>
<a name='more'></a><br />
<div style="background-color: white; font-family: 'Droid Serif', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 22px; padding: 0px 0px 20px; text-align: justify;">
<b><span style="color: #cc0000;"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Ranjith, who has previously made a provocative film like <em>Madras</em>, is in full </span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">fanboy</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"> mode. The gang-war drama is far from being subtle. It is loud, noisy and equally stylish. The Malaysian set up enhances the story and isn't just a mere backdrop. After serving his 20-year long prison term, </span><em><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Kabali</span></em><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"> is freed. Rajini has done his homework well, reading up on the atrocities on Tamil Dalit workers in Malaysia with utmost perfection. As the leader of the downtrodden, he turns to crime to support the community and his men. There is a messiah like </span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">aura</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"> about this character which comes naturally to the actor. He relishes the role and his penchant casts a spell. His charisma, his </span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">canter</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">, and his courage </span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">is</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"> what drives the film. The superstar smoothly shifts from one look to the other without glitches. He roars with vigor about how he was born to be a ruler, regardless of his lineage. Oh well, it is hard to not whistle to something this crowd pleasing.</span></span></b></div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-family: 'Droid Serif', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 22px; padding: 0px 0px 20px; text-align: justify;">
<b><span style="color: #cc0000;"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">But then the clichés come into play. It wears the suspenseful look of a revenge drama. A </span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">ganglord</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"> named Tony Lee kills his wife Kumudavali (played impeccably by Radhika Apte). The first half is smashing. It is thrilling and in parts, it will run chills down your spine. There is a surprising amount of scenes that play with your mind. The identities are kept carefully wrapped and though gory, you've to be the robot to not have your adrenaline shooting up.</span></span></b></div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-family: 'Droid Serif', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 22px; padding: 0px 0px 20px; text-align: justify;">
<b><span style="color: #cc0000;"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Compared to many other of the superstar's films, the crime drama is not all superficial. It is smartly orchestrated with a sturdy political base. Thankfully, the writing is superlative. How a common man is pushed to become a superhero is a story that never fails you, if done right. And it doesn't get more right than Thalaiva himself. The swooshing background score does its job quite well but mostly it is Rajini, who is in top form, doing all the talking. It is another one of his films in which he sleepwalks. As rhetorical as the question </span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">why</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"> watch </span><em><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Kabali</span></em><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"> sounds, the answer is unanimous.</span></span></b></div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-family: 'Droid Serif', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 22px; padding: 0px 0px 20px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><b><span style="color: #cc0000;">But, it is undoubtedly another half baked attempt. It is difficult to keep the tempo soaring all through and when there is Rajini, the film doesn't evoke much effect. The villains lack menace, the supporting cast is good but not enough to salvage the drooping energy. It is a long drawn effort that gets sluggish sometimes. You can't kill Kabali, you can't even bring him down, and sometimes to have faith in it for the entire two-and-a-half hours runtime is a little difficult.</span></b></span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-family: 'Droid Serif', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 22px; padding: 0px 0px 20px; text-align: justify;">
<b><span style="color: #cc0000;"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">The action is underwhelming (you'll have to wait for Robot 2.0 to make amends). The climax is silly. In parts, the plot twists are lame. Kill logic or else you won't be able to explain why </span><em><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><em>Kabali</em> </span></em><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">needs to be a gangster in the first place for his people. Also, how does this Samaritan </span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">gangster run</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"> his business minus prostitution and </span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">drugs.</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"> He is an outlaw but an idealistic version of it. Set off on the perilous journey of enjoying </span><em><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><em>Kabali</em>.</span></em><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"> It will remind you of Baasha but this one has a lot more style, </span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">oomph</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"> and swagger. Why watch </span><em><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Kabali</span></em><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">? Now don't ask that blasphemous question. Just for the love of Thalaiva. </span></span></b></div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-family: 'Droid Serif', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 22px; padding: 0px 0px 20px; text-align: justify;">

It always calls for a celebration! And, if the film turns out to be a <em>Bajrangi Bhaijaan</em>, the revelry quadruples. So no matter how much the 2 </span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">hours 51 minutes’ runtime tires you, the superstar makes <em>Sultan</em> worth a watch. His scorching star presence gives the film a unique charm. Director Ali Abbas Zafar takes his leading man through an array of emotions. He is seen evolving - from an aimless prankster to a man who falls irrevocably in love </span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">to</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"> being a fallen star.</span> <span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">But there is a major flaw in <em>Sultan</em>. Wrestling is never his true love and hence, he can never make you buy into it. Sultan falls in love with Aarfa</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"> – a local wrestler and to win her respect and love, he learns wrestling. “Doctor ki </span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">biwi</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"> doctor </span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">toh</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"> </span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">pehelwan</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"> ki </span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">biwi</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"></span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">pehelwan</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">...” is his logic. Zafar’s treatment is shaky. He tries to make it a bit of everything – a love story, a sports film, a redemption drama. In trying to find a middle ground between creating 2016’s <em>Chak De India</em> and </span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">appeasing</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"> Bhai fans with a masala film on Eid, Zafar loses grip over his plot. Neither does his writing have Jaideep Sahni’s (writer of Chak De India) finesse nor does his vision have Shimit Amin’s clarity. It is Zafar’s inadequacies that </span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">makes</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"> <em>Sultan</em> a slog in parts.</span></span></b></div>
<a name='more'></a><br />
<div style="background-color: white; font-family: 'Droid Serif', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 22px; padding: 0px 0px 20px; text-align: justify;">
<b><span style="color: red;"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Think about it: an estranged couple, a former Olympic champion seeking his glorious self back and a businessman who would go to any extent to sell his MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) league in this country. A perfect recipe for a Bollywood drama? Absolutely! After three years of </span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">dull</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"> show and running in heavy losses, Akash (Amit Sadh) is exasperated with his MMA League. The business was his brainchild which fails to take off. When in India, get dusty </span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">desis</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"> to fight </span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">goras</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">. Though the revelation dawns him a tad too late, but he is ready to put up one last fight and give it his all. On his father’s behest, he goes to a small town in Haryana to find Sultan Ali Khan (Salman). Burdened down by his own sorrows, the former Olympic gold medalist has resigned himself to a life of utter </span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">complacence</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">. His paunch walks ahead of him and grief overpowers his former </span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">canter</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">. The men are desperate for a win in life for their own reasons and Akash convinces<em>Sultan</em> to romance the wrestling ring all over again.</span></span></b></div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-family: 'Droid Serif', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 22px; padding: 0px 0px 20px; text-align: justify;">
<b><span style="color: red;"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Zafar’s plot is ridden with cliches. There is the resounding title track that does more talking than the superstar himself. Take a tip : Keep quiet and let Salman’s charm do the roaring. He can manage it pretty well without Vishal-Shekhar’s help. The love story is half-baked. Though Anushka Sharma wants to make you cheer for her, she has very little material to dabble with. She is beautifully understated, fiercely arrogant and equally affable. </span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Aarfa’s</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"> headstrong </span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">nature, as well as the mean streak</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"> comes from Anushka. You wish Zafar worked better on this character, she could’ve been explosive. This woman can slap Salman Khan with such confidence and gets him to ride pillion behind her. Oh boy… she gotta be made of something! Salman on his part is refreshingly intense, unpredictably fiery and surprisingly vulnerable despite his brooding personality. He gets a complex character to play with and manages to do complete justice to it. The star in him is never too far behind but he makes a hero out of an underdog. Amit is adequate. Kumud Mishra is wicked. And Randeep Hooda makes the </span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">best</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"> use of his striking irreverence.</span></span></b></div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-family: 'Droid Serif', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 22px; padding: 0px 0px 20px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><b><span style="color: red;">The cast shines but the story gets too contrived. There is persistent emotional manipulation you can’t overlook (let’s not give you spoilers). The love story comes with a whole bunch of needless songs and the break up comes with a few more. The story makes you restless with its frequent cutaways. Time and again Salman calls it melodrama. You wish Zafar tried a little less to hit all the buttons to get you clapping.</span></b></span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-family: 'Droid Serif', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 22px; padding: 0px 0px 20px; text-align: justify;">
<b><span style="color: red;"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">But despite its glaring flaws, the one man who keeps you hooked is Salman. Another vanity project, which is far from his best, but he surely knows how to get the crowds hooting. Every dhobi-</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">pachaad</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"> move gets your heart fluttering, its predictable climax makes you mutter a prayer for him and no matter how believable the hard punches are, you know he will rise with twice more the </span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">vigor</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">. The man is a classic Hindi film hero, who can’t be defeated, who can’t falter and has everyone cheering for him. <em>Sultan</em> is perfectly watchable, Salman’s star power gives the film an edge but it is still an opportunity lost. Expect it to get the cash registers ringing but <em>Sultan</em> will be forgotten after two helpings of Eid’s biryani.</span></span></b></div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-family: 'Droid Serif', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 22px; padding: 0px 0px 20px; text-align: justify;">
<b><span style="color: red;"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Afterword : By design, <em>Sultan</em> is what Salman does the best – be a superhero. But what’s great is that with every film, this</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">sooperman</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"> is getting a little more human. By his own admission this time, in a scene, Sultan says, “Main koi </span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">sooperman</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"></span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">nahi</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"> hoon...” Point noted.</span></span></b></div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-family: 'Droid Serif', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 22px; padding: 0px 0px 20px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><b><span style="color: red;">We rate this film 60% </span></b></span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Qjoya6F8tV0/V2ZG2lR9YRI/AAAAAAAAV5Y/tBqgVggmlgEdRJwManvxzduijeXPPY9BgCLcB/s1600/Udta%2BPunjab%2BReview.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><b><span style="color: red;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Qjoya6F8tV0/V2ZG2lR9YRI/AAAAAAAAV5Y/tBqgVggmlgEdRJwManvxzduijeXPPY9BgCLcB/s640/Udta%2BPunjab%2BReview.jpg" width="441" /></span></b></a></div>
<div dir="ltr" style="background-color: white; direction: ltr; font-family: 'Droid Serif', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 22px; padding: 0px 0px 20px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><b><span style="color: red;">There is no non-preachy way to make a film about the drug menace in Punjab. It always runs the risk of turning into a documentary. But when there is a filmmaker like Abhishek Chaubey at the helm of things, the raw data and statistics are material enough to get you high. He is riotous from the opening scene in which a discuss thrower from across the border flings a kilo of heroin towards India and drugs come flying into Punjab. When you decode it, you realize that Chaubey makes so many statements sans words. Punjab is a crucial border state that is falling prey to drugs. Can you imagine the far reaching consequences if matters aren't taken into hands pronto? </span></b></span></div>
<div dir="ltr" style="background-color: white; direction: ltr; font-family: 'Droid Serif', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 22px; padding: 0px 0px 20px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><b><span style="color: red;">Udta Punjab walks on a tightrope, shifting between irreverent and insightful. Profanities are hurled, songs about coke and cock are sung and yet, there are deep conversations amidst shocking revelations.The grim tone finds respite in dark humour, as the director stays true to his style of narration, laced delicately with wit. You'll find yourself chuckling in the strangest parts, smiling to yourself at incorrigible instances. And when the drama plays out, you'll find yourself pondering over the issue over and over again, wondering if we've woken up too late to save Punjab.</span></b></span></div>
<a name='more'></a><br />
<div dir="ltr" style="background-color: white; direction: ltr; font-family: 'Droid Serif', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 22px; padding: 0px 0px 20px; text-align: justify;">
<b><span style="color: red;"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">It is smartly crafted, in which stories of four lives run </span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">parallely. Each character holds on to their own space - a rockstar who has lost his ability to create music because drugs has taken over his soul, an aspiring hockey player who unknowingly gets trapped in a dangerous racket, a police officer who was content being a ghooskhor</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"> till his brother becomes a drug victim and a doctor who wants to change the state of affairs in her state. These characters meet in bizarre situations - from haystacks to rehab centres, that's where the friendships begin in this film.</span></span></b></div>
<div dir="ltr" style="background-color: white; direction: ltr; font-family: 'Droid Serif', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 22px; padding: 0px 0px 20px; text-align: justify;">
<b><span style="color: red;"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Besides Chaubey and his writer Sudip Sharma whose crackling screenplay swells by the minute, it is the actors who make the film work. Shahid Kapoor returns after the unnerving Haider in a role that will shake you up. Consumed by success and lines of cocaine, he talks to his reflection in the water in his commode. 'Who is the Gabru?' - he asks and his alter ego screeches he is the Gabru. He is disturbing, his soliloquies are startling and your heart still reaches out to the man who tasted success too early on in life and lost his way. Alia Bhatt as the Bihari migrant has the support of an author-backed role and she nails it with precision. Her diction is spot on, her </span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">no-make-up</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"> look is perfect and her pain and pathos become your own. There is a scene where she and Shahid pour the secrets of their hearts and she breaks into inconsolable tears. When did the kid from Student of the Year become such a fabulous actor? Well, whatever the metamorphosis was - it surely has given the industry someone who is more than just a star, an actor who is bold enough to break boundaries. Diljit Dosanjh is effortless. His boy-next-door charm infuses earthiness to the plot and without his support, the film would have lost solid ground during its build up. Kareena Kapoor Khan in her part is adequate. Hers is the most poorly sketched role and any actor except Kareena could've easily botched it up. </span></span></b></div>
<div dir="ltr" style="background-color: white; direction: ltr; font-family: 'Droid Serif', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 22px; padding: 0px 0px 20px; text-align: justify;">
<b><span style="color: red;"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">The research driven plot never glorifies drugs. As Chaubey and Sharma familiarise us with the workings of the drug chains, you realise the amount of study that has gone into conjuring up the risky tale. The blame is directed at the </span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">government negligence but Chaubey never makes the remark aggressively. His appeal is grounded in logic, backed by data. Given the real feel of the scenario, the macabre of the story has a lasting impact on impressionable minds. Treat yourself, if the movie doesn't leave you harrowed. </span></span></b></div>
<div dir="ltr" style="background-color: white; direction: ltr; font-family: 'Droid Serif', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 22px; padding: 0px 0px 20px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><b><span style="color: red;">There is so much to rave about this film - its satirical tinge, crackling dialogues, the complex characters, the tendency to avoid being unidimensional, giving a message without being holier-than-thou. And still, the over-indulgent director can't help being himself. The clever gun fight sequence from Dedh Ishqiya makes a repeat in this case, which makes the climax of the film unconvincing and weak.</span></b></span></div>
<div dir="ltr" style="background-color: white; direction: ltr; font-family: 'Droid Serif', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 22px; padding: 0px 0px 20px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><b><span style="color: red;">Udta Punjab loses steam towards the end. Trimmer editing could've saved the story but then again how perfectly can you make a film about the imperfect situation in Punjab. This film comes the closest to it. We recommend you take a trip down this trippy road that pierces its point into you. Get a rush guys, that's the way cinema is meant to be enjoyed. This is the real kick, minus the superstar antics...</span></b></span></div>
<div dir="ltr" style="background-color: white; direction: ltr; font-family: 'Droid Serif', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 22px; padding: 0px 0px 20px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><b><span style="color: red;">We rate this film a 70% </span></b></span></div>

<div style="background-color: white; font-family: 'Droid Serif', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 22px; padding: 0px 0px 20px; text-align: justify;">
<b><span style="color: red;"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Housefull 3 couldn't have had a more appropriate release date. In the week when the social media is hyperventilating about the thin line in between funny and offensive (over the whole Tanmay Bhat controversy), this movie makes an important point - Humour offends, deal with it. Writer-director duo </span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Sajid Farhad</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"> surely must have a good enough explanation as to why their lame-lamer-lamest flurry of funny lines </span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">are</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"> poking fun at the disabled. They redeem with an equally gratuitous scene in the end where the film's leading ladies are praying for a disabled child. Well, talk about irony! Ahem... we are offended. But not enough to file an FIR yet. And if we do, it would only be for making a terrible movie.</span></span></b></div>
<a name='more'></a><br />
<div style="background-color: white; font-family: 'Droid Serif', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 22px; padding: 0px 0px 20px; text-align: justify;">
<b><span style="color: red;"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Those in the film business have a good-enough threshold for lame stuff and are familiar with the drill when it comes to the Housefull franchise - downright stupid and yet make big bucks each time. But Sajid-Farhad </span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">take</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"> it lower. What better to expect from men who proudly gloat about the fact that their best ideas come to them in the loo. Obviously, the inspired thinking during their precious potty time reflects in the writing. There are cliches and </span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">dumbcracks</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"> (a word needs to be concocted for such special cases of idiocy) and six actors who decided to be a party to this buffoonery. The respect that Akshay Kumar earned after Airlift was flushed down the same toilet. And it is not his </span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">onus</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"> alone; they collectively make you groan. Riteish with his impeccable comic timing sleepwalks through the role. After being a part of the previous editions, he knows the terrain inside out and snored through it with immense confidence. And poor Abhishek Bachchan with his straight face, dry Brit humour is the worst case of misplaced casting. His overacting is the film’s most jarring bit and yet, he is gutsy enough to take digs at himself without any qualms. </span></span></b></div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-family: 'Droid Serif', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 22px; padding: 0px 0px 20px; text-align: justify;">
<b><span style="color: red;"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">The </span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">naam</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"> </span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">vastey</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"> plot goes like this - Gold diggers land themselves a lucrative deal when they meet leggy lasses loaded with Daddy’s money. But the Gujju pappa won’t approve of the men so easily. The boys fashion themselves as </span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">handicapped and</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"> from then begins the epic war between </span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">sasurjee</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"> and his to-be-</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">jamairajas</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">.</span></span></b></div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-family: 'Droid Serif', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 22px; padding: 0px 0px 20px; text-align: justify;">
<b><span style="color: red;"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">No one walks in expecting an Oscar-worthy story in such films. But the least you </span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">want,</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"> is to laugh your guts out and have a blast. You wish! The jaded, dated, clichéd jokes have a tough time extracting a single chuckle. The puns are best suited for </span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">two-year olds</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">. Much like Sajid-Farhad’s earlier stint Entertainment, a lot of the humour lies in the dialogues. The </span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">kutte</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">-ko-maar-Akshay-Kumar has been replaced by Jack-lean-on-me showing the dire lack of fresh thinking in them. </span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Equally</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">ridiculous lines take over – Chalo bahar </span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">latakte</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"> hai (Let’s hang out) and Tum </span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">thandi</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"> </span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">dawai</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"> </span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">kyun</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"> </span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">nahin</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"> </span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">lete</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"> (Take a chill pill). An hour into this ludicrous mess, you’ll be left exasperated, gasping for breath, wanting out of the unfunny fiasco. </span></span></b></div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-family: 'Droid Serif', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 22px; padding: 0px 0px 20px; text-align: justify;">
<b><span style="color: red;"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">The writing has the IQ of facebook memes and </span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">whatsapp</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"> jokes. Replete </span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">of</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"> overused gags and sparse amusing instances (all mostly before the interval), this is a tacky, repetitive and lazy heir of Housefull and Housefull 2. People around me sat in the hope that Jaggu dada (Jackie Shroff) will help the flat </span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">tale</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"> with his cool </span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">bhiduness</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"> but all he manages to mutter is ATM – Aaj </span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">tujhe</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"> </span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">marunga</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">! The abbreviations are well indicative of how lazy the writers got. For one character, they didn’t even bother finishing the lines!</span></span></b></div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-family: 'Droid Serif', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 22px; padding: 0px 0px 20px; text-align: justify;">
<b><span style="color: red;"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">You enjoy this film depending on your mental age, or your level of physical desperation. We don’t </span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">know of</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"> anyone who can enjoy an entire sequence that involves a handicapped man, his </span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">crotch</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"> and red ants. And then there are </span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">gora</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">-</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">kala</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">jokes which are best reserved for the film. But what’s worst here is the three beautiful women – Jacqueline Fernandez, Lisa </span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Haydon</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"> and Nargis Fakhri, who are perfectly fine being reduced to ninnies without a mind of their own. Dressed in lavish clothes with the expensive </span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">make up</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"> on them, even when they go to sleep, the writers reduce them to women who’ve crushed their grey matter under their Blahnik </span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">stilettos</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">. </span></span></b></div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-family: 'Droid Serif', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 22px; padding: 0px 0px 20px; text-align: justify;">

Haaa…critics are just people who find impossible to use their brains depending on a film’s genre. Movies are either good, bad or ugly and Housefull 3 is tragically ugly. </span></span></b></div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-family: 'Droid Serif', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 22px; padding: 0px 0px 20px; text-align: justify;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b><span style="color: red;"><br /></span></b></div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-family: 'Droid Serif', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 22px; padding: 0px 0px 20px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><b><span style="color: red;">If you remember anything about Priyanka Chopra's Mary Kom, we bet you remember how infuriated you were when you saw director Omung Kumar reduce the boxing champion's inspiring life story into a soul-less snoozefest. Thank your stars that Sarbjit is at least a marked improvement to his last film, but similar problems persist. His well-intentioned effort is bogged down by an inadequate screenplay that just cannot do justice to the 23 years of Sarabjit's trauma, his family's anguish and his sister's undying fighting spirit is lost in Omung's tendencies to focus more on the more trivial things. You'll not be particularly intrigued by the story of incarcerated Sarabjit Singh. There was a time, he was the topic of hot discussion on news bulletins, triggering thought-provoking debates. People had found themselves polarized between the questions - Was he really a spy or an innocent man who got drunk and crossed over the border? Well, our director here makes it a pure homage film. He sticks to the version of Sarbjit's sister Dalbir Kaur's without meandering much from what she has told them about his life. At this point, it is necessary to point out that Omung never creates a hero out of his titular man. It is Dalbir's story all the way and the film could very well be named that instead of Sarbjit. </span></b></span></div>
<a name='more'></a><br />
<div style="background-color: white; font-family: 'Droid Serif', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 22px; padding: 0px 0px 20px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><b><span style="color: red;">You walk into the theatres film expecting a grim, sombre movie but Omung instead mets out a half-baked tale that woos you in bits but is inherently too dull to move you. The only reason you remain invested in this flimsy screenplay is because of Randeep Hooda. He is fantastic in every frame. His voice changes over the years, he perfectly looks his part. There is fear in his eyes, there is hopelessness and yet, his rebellious side is never far away. Even as his life remains restricted in square boxes of different sizes over the 23 years that he lived in Kot Lakhpat jail, he craves for his name to be free, to come to be the face of liberty. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who plays Dalbir, has a longer screen presence but she isn't half as effective. However, kudos to her to be able to break out of the hullabaloo around her beauty and try her hand at some serious acting, but she is failed by the story that patronizes her too much. On her part, she fails to evoke the required sense of restlessness that Dalbir must've undergone for her brother. The one thing that is common between her and Dalbir is that they are both ballsy women, ready to bend rules when needed and break them when called for. Ash's diction was problematic, as she shifted conveniently between chaste Punjabi and impeccable Hindi, in a matter of seconds. </span></b></span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-family: 'Droid Serif', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 22px; padding: 0px 0px 20px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><b><span style="color: red;">However, these are minor hitches in the larger scheme of things. The major ones are far more glaring to ignore. We daresay that the director lacks insight into the subject at hand. Are we ever told of the investigations on Sarabjit? Or there being any possibility of him being a spy? It is all done too conveniently without taking the other side’s view point into consideration. No wonder the film lacks thrill or suspense, failing to command our interest at a stretch. There is not a single pertinent question asked. Besides, there is too much propaganda. If you don’t believe in Dalbir’s version, you’ll feel the lady had her own vested political interests in getting Sarabjit back home. The human drama is too flaky and the writing is just not convincing. We are told Sarabjit is falsely accused of being Ranjit Singh Mattoo, who masterminded five blasts in Pakistan. Somehow, Omung’s Dalbir becomes a sharp investigating officer who has all the evidence against Ranjit. At another point in the film she is a world leader, championing the cause of human rights. Now that is just of the many far-fetched things the film shows. We aren’t even bringing forth how the family manages their finances without any source of income or how a certain lawyer Sheikh sahib takes over the case.</span></b></span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-family: 'Droid Serif', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 22px; padding: 0px 0px 20px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><b><span style="color: red;">However, the main villain of this story is its editing team who didn’t know how to give the narrative a coherent flow. As we hiccupped our way through the trials of the slain hero’s life, you realize there is little to take back home with you. Amidst the shabbily cut scenes, the overdone rona-dhona, the persistent melodrama, the preachy vein, it is clear that the film’s writing makes the effort an inefficacious one.</span></b></span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-family: 'Droid Serif', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 22px; padding: 0px 0px 20px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><b><span style="color: red;">And yet, only and only for Randeep's sparkling performance, we suggest you don’t miss Sarbjit. He makes his pain your own with his pitch-perfect rendering. Well, only if good intentions could make good films, Randeep’s efforts wouldn’t be lost in the dance and drama of this humdrum feat. For all the effort he has put into this movie, he definitely deserved better. </span></b></span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-family: 'Droid Serif', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 22px; padding: 0px 0px 20px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><b><span style="color: red;">Richa Chadha has a handful of scenes and she is adequate in those. The only one where you get a feel of her character Sukhpreet, is her tirade to Dalbir.</span></b></span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-family: 'Droid Serif', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 22px; padding: 0px 0px 20px; text-align: justify;">

<b><span style="color: blue;">We all saw Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's entire family including hubby Abhishek, in-laws Jaya and Amitabh Bachchan, parents Vrinda and Krishnaraj Rai, and brother Aditya attend the premiere of her movie Sarbjit. The Bachchans and the Rais were all praises for Aishwarya and her performance. Hubby Abhishek also praised his lovely wife saying, "It's immensely brave of any actor to perform with such honesty and fearlessness and the Mrs. is the bravest of them all. So proud! #Sarbjit"</span></b><br />

<b><span style="color: blue;">However, it seems that something went wrong for Junior Bachchan at the do as he was seen in quite a glum and grumpy mood. Abhishek for some reason, was not interested to pose for a pic with Ash. When he did finally pose with his wifey, he stood there barely for a few minutes before abruptly walking away, leaving Aishwarya shocked. </span></b></div>

<b><span style="color: red;">Fardeen Khan is one of those star kids who did not manage to make it big in Bollywood. However, Fardeen had earned the title of a male fashionista, a sex symbol. He also went on to win some awards for his fashion sense. </span></b></div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-family: 'Droid Serif', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 22px; padding: 0px 0px 20px; text-align: justify;">
<b><span style="color: red;">However, Fardeen moved away from the public eye and set his heart on other business ventures. It seems that Fardeen for some reason was not able maintain his slim and trim avatar as he was recently clicked sporting some serious flab. </span></b></div>

<b><span style="color: red;">Well, this was quite enough for Twitterati to go berserk over Fardeen's new look. The once-upon-a-time good looking actor became the butt of jokes when the online world raised its mean but funny head. </span></b></div>
