Housefull 2 gets Negative Reviews, Opens well at Box Office

So we know Sajid Khan (director of Housefull 2) cares less for critics & believes in entertaining the audience!
Heres what the critics & box office had to say about his latest film starrring Akshay Kumar, Asin Thottumkal, John Abraham, Jacqueline Fernandez, Riteish Deshmukh, Zarine Khan, Shazahn Padamsee, Shreyas Talpade

Raja Sen - 1 Star
Housefull 2 is shamefully bad. So bad that Ranjeet - the rapey villain of yore - who appears in one scene, is the most dignified thing about the film.

Last time they had the Queen, this time there is Prince Charles. There isn’t an ounce of sensible or clever humour. The characters call each other names like they were in grade school.

The movie is definitely not a laugh-riot, but it doesn’t fail to bring out chuckles in bits. In various parts, the director has tried very hard to force a laugh, but fails to bring out even a smile. The first half is fun, yet disappointing for a movie that promises to be a hilarious hoopla. The second half starts with entertaining portions, but the excitement takes a back seat as it proceeds. The climax is stretched, yet acceptably amusing in parts. Infused in generous portions are action sequences which are more entertaining than the comedy.

If you are a moviegoer who derives pleasure from loud comedies with over-the-top humor that defy logic at every opportunity, I am sure, you will relish this wacky slapstick. If your idea of watching a comedy is to have a good time at the movies, then HOUSEFULL 2 is especially designed for you.

Directed by Sajid Khan, the film’s finale is funny—both intentionally an unintentionally. The physical slapstick comedy is straight out of a kids’ movie, but it is charmingly daft. You cannot help let out a laugh or two.
Rajeev Masand - 1 Star
Housefull 2 is for four-year-olds who don’t know any better. For anyone with taste, or anyone seeking genuine laughs, there’s nothing here. I’m going with one out of five for director Sajid Khan’s Housefull 2. I’d rather watch reruns of his TV shows instead; they were pure gold compared to this drivel!
TOI - 3stars
Housefull-2 is a bag of laughs with eye-candy - Akshay in linens, Jacqueline in minis - and some crackling performances. Mithun commands with sheer presence while the climax belongs to rip-roaring Lever. Riteish plays 'helpless' with flair while a guest scene by '70s veteran Ranjeet - "From rapist to therapist" - provides a vibrant stroke of colour on this house-wall. Abraham manages the muscle-man while Malaika Arora Khan sizzles in 'Anarkali Disco Chali' - and an oomphy little scenario later.

Though the film has certain glitches, one can easily overlook them, for the film certainly promises a great deal of laughter that will leave you pleading for a break. Your jaws will be tired laughing and so will your tummy that might suffer cramps! The first half keeps you busy as you will stop munching your bucket of pop-corn. However, the second half is a bit of a drag that has some clichéd dialogue and contriving situations that might leave you wondering about their inclusion in the film.
Anupama Chopra - 2stars
Did I laugh? Sparingly, yes. Ranjeet, Bollywood's iconic rapist, has a fun cameo. But mostly, Housefull 2 was so exhausting that at one point, I grew nostalgic for Rohit Shetty's Golmaal series - another full-blown nonsensical outing but with far more energy than this. However, the actors all look like they are having fun - Akshay Kumar and John Abraham also get to show off some nifty fight moves in a few pasted-on action sequences, which of course have little bearing on anything else. But the actresses are locked into a weird pouting contest. Each one sports lips that seem especially inflated for their close-ups. And the acting is laughably bad - Shazahn Padamsee and Zarine Khan (who inexplicably plays a character named JLo) are the joint winners of the worst performance award.
Box Office India - Housefull 2 Opens Well At Multiplexes
Housefull 2 took a good opening at multiplexes with collections in the 70-75% region on average.

  1. Obviously. The film looks awful. Way too many actors meaning that each one gets less screen space. I wanted this film to do well for Akshay but when I saw the trailer, I knew this film would be crap.
I am so surprised that the veteran actors chose to do this film. Out of all the films..this?!
Hopefully Akshay's next few films are good. I have my hopes for Rowdy Rathore..
