Manisha Koirala facing marital problems?
Amidst much speculation on her marriage, it is learned that actress Manisha Koirala has returned home to Kathmandu after a quarrel with her husband Samrat Dahal.
“An argument blew up into a fight immediately after their honeymoon. Manya says that she packed her bags when her husband slapped her. Right now, she’s not keen to return to Samrat,” says a family friend.
According to sources, Manisha, who has plans to pursue filmmaking, tagged along an official assignment during her honeymoon which didn’t go down well with her husband, who had to accompany her all along.
“My husband Samrat and I travelled through the south and north of Finland. We, then, went to Stuttgart (Germany) where I was on the jury of the Stuttgart Film Festival,” Manisha said earlier.
The actress was a jury member ofthe ‘Bollywood and Beyond’ section at the film festival. After judging the festival, Manisha went to Paris for the last leg of her honeymoon!
She had also planned a filmmaking career in Nepal, and was looking for co-producers in Bollywood too.
Her mother, Sushma has admitted that there wastension between Manisha and her husband, but chose to downplay it.
“There might have been some minor dispute between the two, which is normal in a married life, but it has not reached to that extent as reported by the media. Manisha (who was attending IFFI as a jury member at the time) is busy with her work…Everything will be fine as soon as she returns home in a few days. I haven’t to spoken her on the matter, but I understand it is not serious,” said Sushma.
The actress is known to be impulsive and moody among her friends.
“Manisha had developed drinking problems when her Bollywood career was on a downslide. She’s also had a bad break-up with her former boyfriend Crispin Conroy, Australian Ambassador to Nepal, following which she’s been in and out of several relationships. Before her marriage, she briefly dated Christopher Dorris, a sports counselor, author and entrepreneur,” says a source.
Currently married to Samrat, who’s seven years younger to her, the actresshas not taken well to this development in her marriage.
“Manisha’s family is adamant that she cannot break off a marriage over a quarrel like the earlier ones,” adds the source.
